Il World Architecture Festival (WAF) annuncia la shortlist dell'edizione 2024: comprende oltre 480 progetti in 71 Paesi, a firma di più di 350 studi. L'evento dal vivo, durante il quale verranno decretati i vincitori del contest, si svolgerà a Singapore presso il Marina Bay Sands dal 6 all'8 novembre, con un programma di keynote e conferenze tenute da relatori internazionali sul tema "Tomorrow".
La shortlist di quest'anno, selezionata tra 800 candidature, presenta i migliori nuovi progetti di edifici e paesaggi, oltre a concetti architettonici futuristici, distribuiti in 33 categorie che spaziano dal tema residenziale al trasporto fino al retrofit. Inoltre, è stata annunciata la shortlist del Inside World Festival of Interiors, il programma gemello del WAF che celebra i migliori progetti di design d'interni globali in dieci categorie.
I giudici dell’award includono 175 esperti del settore provenienti da 32 Paesi, tra cui figure di spicco come Kelley Cheng, Sanjay Puri, Mariana Simas, Sonali Rastogi, Mario Cucinella, Emre Arolat, Ian Ritchie, Charu Kokate, Yael Reisner, Sir Peter Cook e Nigel Coates.
L'evento del WAF 2024 a Singapore

Quest'anno, i cinque Paesi in cima alla lista dei finalisti sono: Cina, Australia, Regno Unito, India e Singapore. Tra gli studi di progettazione coinvolti figurano firme di prestigio quali Zaha Hadid Architects, WOHA, Renzo Piano Building Workshop, MVRDV, Tadao Ando Architect & Associates, Kohn Pedersen Fox e Nikken Sekkei, insieme a molte realtà emergenti.
Il 15 luglio verranno inoltre annunciati diversi Premi Speciali, tra cui il WAFX, dedicato ai progetti futuri. Nell'ultimo giorno del festival, i vincitori di ogni categoria, tra le 43 in gara (suddivise tra completed buildings, future buildings, landscape e interiors) si contenderanno i prestigiosi riconoscimenti di World Building of the Year, Landscape of the Year, Future Project of the Year e Interior of the Year.

La shortlist del 2024 Inside World Festival of Interiors

Inside, il festival gemello del WAF, celebra l'eccellenza nel design d'interni. I finalisti presenteranno i loro progetti dal vivo a una giuria a Singapore, contemporaneamente all’evento live del WAF. La shortlist di quest'anno include oltre 80 progetti da città come New York, Dubai, Pechino, Osaka, São Paulo e Londra. I principali studi in gara comprendono nomi del calibro di Foster + Partners, Broadway Malyan, Nikken Sekkei e Office AIO, insieme a molte realtà emergenti nel settore del design.
La shortlist copre dieci categorie, tra cui Hotels, Workplace, Residential e Retail. I vincitori di ciascuna categoria si contenderanno il premio Interior of the Year 2024 nell'ultimo giorno del festival.
