Entering Pulso Hotel immerses visitors in a sequence of spaces that do more than welcome guests; they invite them to stay. The name of this five-star hotel in São Paulo’s financial district reflects both the city’s relentless pace and the slower pulse of physical well-being. Studio Arthur Casas frames the architecture around this double meaning as an extension of domestic living – a place where life precedes design.

The project’s public spaces make the design intent clear. The lobby, for example, is not a neutral threshold but a kind of urban living room where domestic-scale furnishings, warm materials, and filtered natural light create an almost residential architectural language. People meet, sit, and talk here amid greenery, making it a lively social hub. The open atrium acts as a contemporary portico linking the bar, restaurant, and the Cha Cha Boulangerie bakery in a continuous flow. Integrated into the architecture and planting, Nuno Ramos’s Mácula – a 30 m-long panel inscribed in Braille – reinforces the dialogue between art, space, and perception.
The social emphasis continues in the hotel’s dining and gathering places. With interiors featuring green lacquer, ceramic tile, wood surfaces, and stone fragments, Charlô Bistrô establishes a sophisticated, welcoming tone. Opposite it, Cha Cha Boulangerie mixes functions and daily rituals – café, bakery, deli – while maintaining a constant visual relationship with the lobby. Finally, Sarau Bar introduces a more nocturnal and intimate register. Brass, marble, mirrors, and carpet define this smaller space organized around a central stage where live music becomes part of the architectural experience.

Upstairs, the architecture of the guest rooms is more personal. The 57 units, from 32 to 64 sq. m, are conceived as micro-residences rather than typical hotel rooms. Each room features a carefully curated selection of furniture and decor, including many pieces by leading Brazilian designers, ranging from Sérgio Rodrigues to Jorge Salszupin. These pair with vintage pieces the designers sourced in São Paulo’s markets and workshops. The 32 sq. m rooms have an essential layout, while the 64 sq. m units include a separate living room, a walk-in closet, and a bathroom with a tub, reinforcing the idea of a temporary, but complete, domestic space. Veined marble, wood floors, button-tufted details, and textiles create a timeless, elegant esthetic. Located within the Praça Henrique Monteiro mixed-use development (winner of THE PLAN Award 2025), the hotel adjoins a residential tower, a horizontal podium, and an elevated volume housing a wellness center. The composition of volumes is clear and legible: each element retains its identity while participating in a common language defined by horizontal bands in precast concrete, metal panels, and coordinated sunshades. The glazed façade aligns with the sidewalk, reinforcing the idea of a genuinely urban hotel that is open and permeable.
Planted with Ipe trees and broadleaf species, a narrow green boulevard frames the entrance, introducing a pause in the city’s rhythm and preparing guests for the experience inside. Above it, an elevated plaza is a key element. This raised planted landscape, which supports trees, offers canopy-level views and a pool, spa, sauna, and gym within a glazed volume.
