In the picturesque landscape of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, USA, stands Elysium Fields, a contemporary art gallery designed by CLB Architects and interior designer WRJ Design, created for a multigenerational family.

Strategically located on a panoramic ridge, Elysium Fields embraces the drama of its site, offering sweeping views of the Teton Range. The approach to the residence is a gradual discovery — the house emerges subtly from the hillside, harmoniously integrating into the surrounding landscape. Materiality plays a key role in this integration: the home is built with cut sandstone, echoing the hues of the terrain. Above this stone base, cedar and darkened stainless-steel volumes contrast with modern, lightweight profiles.
Following a sinuous path, visitors arrive at a private courtyard where they are greeted by a stainless-steel sculpture by Jedd Novatt — a piece that inspired the home’s architectural language, characterized by “layered geometries and progressive discoveries.”

Art permeates the interiors as well, aiming to create an environment where furnishings and décor engage in dialogue with the artworks, inviting contemplation at every turn. The color palette draws inspiration from the black-and-white photography of Helmut Newton and Horst P. Horst, as well as from bold graphic art (like Warhol’s), complemented by touches of vibrant color — such as the lacquered Matisse blue that defines the pantry.
Rush Jenkins, Creative Director of WRJ Design, notes that «an art collection of this importance demands an exceptional level of attention».
Local woods such as western red cedar and hemlock add warmth to the space, paired with limestone and white oak flooring. Natural fabrics and warm metals — mohair, linen, alpaca, wool, leather, walnut, brass, and bronze — combine elegance with durability, forming a refined yet understated backdrop.
Decorative lighting takes on a sculptural role, from the chandelier suspended over a custom walnut-and-metal dining table to the crystal pendant above the bronze-and-quartzite kitchen table.

The architecture unfolds through a series of interconnected volumes designed to meet the needs of a large family. A gallery-like corridor serves as the home’s spine, guiding inhabitants through spaces that reveal themselves gradually — almost like a meditative journey.
The interiors strike a balance between intimacy and sociability. The lower level houses a media room, billiards area, gym, golf simulator, wine cellar, and covered outdoor space. The furnishings echo the vivid tones of the artworks and objects displayed — including a turquoise motorcycle showcased as sculpture. A lacquered emerald-green bar and an algae-hued mohair sofa define this convivial, comfortable environment
As Klaus Baer, COO of WRJ Design, concludes, the owners chose «extraordinary craftsmanship and works of art, yet presented in an informal way — inviting spaces where one can relax and enjoy the outdoors.»
