Offering experiences, not products, to create a new way of conceiving both private and public space: this is the main mission of Nexion, a company specialized in sintered surfaces that was born from the merger of two important groups in the sector, namely Italy’s Ceramiche Speranza and India’s Simpolo. It is precisely the interaction of these two cultures that drives the design of increasingly versatile products: on the one hand, Italian esthetics, technology, entrepreneurial spirit, and innovation; on the other, high craftsmanship and Indian workmanship.
In this way, the company has succeeded over time in expanding its mission, originally conceived mostly for India, beyond its national borders, and giving it an international scope (today the company exports to over 50 countries). the purpose of creating beauty to contribute to the development of urbanization processes and to improve people’s quality of life was adapted to new contexts – and is continuing to do so. However, beauty is not the only essential value of Nexion’s design: alongside this are attention to detail, care for people and the environment, enhancement of ingenuity and creativity, the importance of collaboration and teamwork, knowledge sharing, and integrity. One of the latest additions to the catalog and emblematic of the company’s philosophy and personality is Riga, a collection reminiscent of concrete: this material’s effect is at the center of the project, but is reinterpreted through vibrant tactile sensations, textures of various inspiration, and artisanal flavor in a wide range of modular formats.
The focus of this collection has been placed on the decorative elements, making it more versatile from an esthetic point of view, while retaining its natural industrial essence. The decorative inserts – a mix of geometric and dynamic patterns – allow for greater depth and materiality. There are four decorative variants available, namely Rigato, Striato, Quadri, and Planum, with a palette inspired by the natural hues of concrete. The colors, starting with traditional shades, range from white to ivory, from beige to light and dark gray, to black. This is how Riga can adapt to a large variety of contexts and styles. Underpinning the research and development work for the Riga collection is the established know-how of Nexion, which won the Red Dot Award in 2020 for textured surfaces.
