In 1920, the Provenzano family embarked on a journey into the art of pastry making that continues to this day. Since then, all the original passion, skill, and dedication to quality and authenticity have been passed down from generation to generation, making this family-owned bar and pastry shop a landmark in Tuglie, a small town in the Salento province of Lecce.

This important local attraction recently underwent a major renovation. The project, the work of Marco Giovinazzo Architect, successfully merges tradition, iconic elements, and innovation. Featuring decorative elements inspired by waves and functional additions intended to bring more natural light inside, changes to the ceiling, walls, and the behind-the-counter area have all contributed to creating a special atmosphere.

Adding a touch of sophistication to the space are high, vaulted plaster walls and a striking counter crafted in Dekton – Cosentino’s innovative, ultra-compact engineered material produced sustainably from over 20 naturally sourced minerals. The design team chose the Dekton Entzo range, inspired by Calacatta Gold marble and distinguished by its remarkably realistic golden-veined pattern. This tone also reflects light well, thereby improving the brightness of the space.

“We chose Dekton Entzo to address two needs”, the architects explained. “One was functional, since we needed a high level of hygiene and easy maintenance

for the service areas and the counter.
The other was esthetic, in that we wanted a surface reminiscent of the old bakery worktops, which were traditionally granite or marble”. Since it is suitable for applications that demand high levels of hygiene and can retain its shape and color for years, Dekton Entzo made it possible for the architects to create an “intriguing and welcoming space, in keeping with the bakery’s history”, concluded Giovinazzo.
