Public spaces are the framework of urban centers: places for the community, religious buildings, squares, streets and civic centers are the places where the identity and cohesion of the community are built. These are often complex projects, not only for the different activities they are intended to host, but also for the bureaucratic procedures that accompany the interventions, certainly more complex than those in the private sphere. In addition, there are the needs for distancing and flexibility that emerged with the pandemic.
There are 23 shortlisted projects in the ‘Public Spaces’ category of THE PLAN Award 2021, between the two sections Completed and Future, from all over the world. These works have already passed the first selection phase of the prestigious annual architecture and design award and could be included by the jury among the finalists. However, everyone can vote for their favorite projects in view of the assignment of the Community Wish List Special Prize.
