With over 163,000 visitors from 150 countries and more than 2100 exhibitors – 72% of whom were from outside Germany – the 2025 edition of ISH has now closed its doors. An international trade fair held in Frankfurt, the event showcases products for the bathroom, energy-saving technologies, air conditioning, and renewable energy. The next ISH will take place March 15–19, 2027. According to Wolfgang Marzin, president and CEO of Messe Frankfurt, “Our exhibitors have shown that the transition to a sustainable economy is not only vital but already underway, despite the challenges we currently face. They are developing technologies that improve our daily lives.” THE PLAN has put together a selection of some of the most important new products.
Patricia Urquiola’s distinctive design style was on show at ISH with Duravit’s Balcoon series. Combining premium features with first-class workmanship, this range sets a new standard in mid-priced bathroom products, while making Urquiola’s designs accessible to a broader audience. “The design explores asymmetry, protrusions, and overlapping materials and textures, which is where the name Balcoon comes from,” explained the designer.
Another new product launched at the fair was DuraShield®. With a smooth, virtually pore-free surface, this protective enamel repels grime and limescale, making cleaning a breeze. Positively charged metallic ions also form an invisible protective shield that renders 99.99% of all bacteria harmless within 24 hours. This product will also be available for the Balcoon series.
Under the shared tagline of “Inspire more. Create More. Together,” Ideal Standard and Villeroy & Boch – both Villeroy & Boch Group brands – joined forces for the first time in a single exhibition space at ISH 2025. Driven by a commitment to design, innovation, elegance, and craftsmanship, both brands showcased some of their most iconic bathroom furnishings that combine creativity and versatility.
Globo returned to ISH with an exhibition that traced the story of its evolution in terms of research and sustainability. Among the significant new products on display was the Koi range of contemporary washbasins designed by Federica Biasi. Offering total compositional freedom, elegant shades, and oval and round models, the range can transform any space into a statement of modern sophistication. Fluid lines and soft edges enhance the elegance of the ceramicware, while offering practicality and functionality. The range also includes Koi Small, a bathtub with pure, archetypal forms crafted from the highly durable LivingTec® material.
Other highlights include the Tile ceramic surface, whose fluid, velvety touch makes it the ideal vanity countertop.
Cristina Rubinetterie chose the Frankfurt event to launch several lines, including Faro, designed by the company’s in-house design lab. Pairing retro details with contemporary influences, this line is the perfect complement for neoclassical and transitional style spaces. This is a design that’s all about elegant lines, harmonious proportions, premium finishes, and ergonomic functionality. High-quality materials guarantee both beauty and durability, while the ergonomic lever offers a fluid, comfortable touch.
Grohe has reinvented showering with its new warm foam dispenser. Grohe Purefoam transforms the shower into an oasis of relaxation. The technology that produces the foam is activated by pressing a button and stops automatically after a preset period of 4 – 15 seconds. The device has a rechargeable battery with a charge indicator and an effective self-cleaning mode.
With integrated audio functions, gentle lighting, and infrared heat to melt away stress, Kaldewei’s new Nuio Duo bathtub combines relaxation with sophisticated looks. Created by Stefan Diez, the design features an interplay of essential lines and a bold character. Its shape brings to mind flowing water, blending the harmony of nature with modern minimalism. Its generous dimensions, ergonomic backrests, and well-defined neck and shoulder area ensure exceptional comfort.
At ISH 2025, Laufen unveiled its new Volta concept, developed in collaboration with Yves Béhar. This sculptural washbasin reimagines the movement of water in a whirlpool, combining visual poetry with self-cleaning efficiency through the optimized flow of water. Volta is made using an innovative electric tunnel kiln designed especially for sanitary ceramics. This washbasin also marks an important chapter in the use of Saphirkeramik, an ultra-thin, highly resilient ceramic material developed at the company’s Innovation Center in Gmunden.
Rubinetterie Stella launched its new Ennio line in Frankfurt. Designed by Francis Sultana, Ennio draws its inspiration from the elegant lines of neoclassical columns and adds a contemporary twist. The line was originally designed for the renovation of the iconic Hotel La Palma in Capri. Since then, it has grown to include a complete range of products, including faucets for washbasins, bidets, and bathtubs, along with a series of coordinated accessories.
Crafted in brass and engineered for a three-hole installation, Ennio is distinguished by vertical grooves that evoke a neoclassical aesthetic, enhanced by elegant detailing. A signature feature of the range is that the handle caps are customizable. Available with a chrome finish or in ceramic in a selection of colors, the caps can be further personalized with logos or decorative accents.
Participating in the Frankfurt trade fair for the 21st time, VitrA launched several new additions to its range of washbasins, accessories, and bathroom furnishings, all of them displayed in a booth that embodied the Design for Life philosophy. The firm also showcased its SustaINdex project – developed in collaboration with several universities – which involves a holistic calculation methodology for assessing the social and environmental impact of products throughout their lifecycle. Using this approach, Vitra can continuously evaluate, classify, and enhance the sustainability profile of its product portfolio.
The firm also unveiled the first washbasin crafted entirely from recycled ceramic and a toilet seat made with 92% recycled raw materials, achieving an 80% reduction in carbon emissions compared to standard products.
Among the products unveiled by Samsung at the event were the new WindFree S2 2025 models, equipped with AI Fast & Comfort Cooling technology. This system uses artificial intelligence to rapidly cool environments according to user preferences. When activated, the system first lowers the temperature using the Fast Cooling function. It then continuously monitors both indoor and outdoor conditions to optimize cooling, automatically switching to the mode that can best maintain the ideal temperature without disruptive air currents.
Furthermore, Samsung showcased SmartThings Pro and b.IoT Lite, remote control solutions designed for hotels, shops, and other commercial spaces, intended to optimize the management of heating, cooling, and energy efficiency, even in large architectural complexes or on an urban scale.
In Frankfurt, Daikin launched the first prototype of its latest innovation in heat pumps. The Daikin Altherma 4 X combines hydronic heat emitters and indoor air conditioning units to provide domestic heating, cooling, and hot water. Extremely compact, Altherma 4 X can be used with both underfloor systems and radiators. It also offers air-to-air heating and cooling for areas where this approach is appropriate.
Clivet, a company specializing in heating, air conditioning and hot water solutions, among other innovations, presented in Frankfurt the Clivet Smart Living, a residential system: it allows the various units to be purchased separately and integrated over time, according to the needs of the home, namely heat pump, air renewal and purification system, controls, room terminals, Sinergy electricity storage, and remote management via the revamped Clivet Eye app. Thus, it is a modular solution that optimizes energy consumption related to air conditioning, aiming to achieve energy independence. The system can be equipped with new components over time, both to improve room comfort and to increase energy capacity.
