Bulgari Hotel Roma is a return to origins. It is a return to the city where it all began – where every piece of history is a source of design inspiration – and to a past that is in constant contact with the present. Italy’s second Bulgari Hotel & Resort Collection property after Milan, the hotel is in the heart of Rome, overlooking Piazza Augusto Imperatore and a short walk from Via del Corso. The building, a late-1930s rationalist landmark by architect Vittorio Ballio Morpurgo, underwent a major restoration project marked by Bulgari’s distinctive approach to promoting design and craftsmanship.
Designed by ACPV Architects Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, the interiors are united by the use of materials and colors that echo the brand’s jewelry palette. Rigo Marmi created the suites and main public areas of the resort, beginning with the rooftop terrace, inspired by ancient Roman gardens and offering expansive views over Rome’s rooftops. The centerpiece of the terrace is an Arabescato Corchia marble pool with elegant veining. At the bottom,
an artistic mosaic of tiny pieces of hand-split marble depicts the Bulgari star logo.
For the suites, Rigo Marmi chose marbles first brought to Italy by Emperor Augustus, including fiery Red Jasper, Giallo Broccatello with black and white veining, Verde Aquamix for a touch of freshness, and Taj Mahal for added warmth. In combination with quartzites, marble dictates each suite’s palette.
Finally, Arabescato Corchia marble columns in the spa create a sense of majesty, while Striato Olimpico marble wall finishes promote relaxation.
The atmosphere here evokes ancient Roman baths.
