Imagine standing on the dunes of the desert – the quiet of the space, the soft lines of the golden sand, the immense sky, and the wind on your face. Attempting to get as close as possible to the feelings tied to that “raw, organic, and stimulating movement of sand”, Sahar Madanat designed one of the latest collections of RAK Ceramics, in her first collaboration with the company. The designer’s approach aims at giving greater prominence to the role of women and create a dialogue with the public based on a contamination between North African and Middle Eastern cultures. Thus, she conceived RAK-Remal, a collection of sinks and bathroom fixtures with essential, delicate and minimal forms, inspired by the softness of the dunes.

One of the main drivers of this proposal dates to Madanat’s childhood, during which she started creating according to the motto that “necessity is the mother of all inventions”. This knowledge, alongside her curious and experimental vein, has accompanied her journey to a sense of design increasingly oriented towards discovery, without ever neglecting the conviction that every action and decision influences the community. “I feel a great sense of responsibility towards the Middle Eastern and North African communities, an element that is also present in my collaboration with RAK Ceramics”, underlined the designer. This has inspired the sentiment behind the RAK-Remal collection, as did an awareness of the therapeutic qualities and feelings of serenity associated with sand.

All the sinks are available in two different finishes: Glossy White and Mica White, a new artistic glaze with an earthy and natural look obtained by adding mica particles (a mineral with a crystalline aspect and a high heat resistance) to the mix. The bathroom fixtures are characterized by Reelflush, the new extremely quiet double-wash technology that guarantees high water savings.

Every detail of the collection is designed to “bring us closer to nature”, concluded Madant. “Impressions in the sand represent moments, memories and emotions”.
