“Designing Human-Centered Outdoor Spaces” is the theme of a roundtable scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27 in Milan. The event, organized by THE PLAN in partnership with Tribù, will see the participation of ACPV Architects, Barreca & La Varra, COIMA Image, Monica Armani and Parcnouveau. It will take place at the Tribù Flagship Showroom at Via Felice Cavallotti 13, in Milan.
Partly because of our growing need to live in contact with nature, the connection between humans, nature, and architecture is a key challenge of contemporary architecture. Over recent years, investing in outdoor leisure has become a priority for architects, property developers, and end users. The growing demand for outdoor spaces that can be enjoyed all year round creates opportunities at all levels for new and innovative design approaches.
The event will examine different perspectives on the outdoor living industry. The first part of the evening will focus on Tribù, an international company specializing in luxury outdoor furniture. Monica Armani, designer of the Monica Armani studio, will talk about the firm’s experience as a technological partner with designers.
A panel of high-level speakers will discuss the critical issues of today’s outdoor living industry, including Alida Catella of COIMA Image, Margherita Brianza of Parcnouveau, Francesca Carlino of ACPV Architects and Monica Armani and Luca Dallabetta, Monica Armani studio. Gianandrea Barreca, founding partner of Barreca & La Varra, will moderate the round table. The event has been submitted for the awarding of 2 CFP continuing education credits for Italian architects. The evening will conclude with a cocktail reception.
Outdoor spaces have become an extension of indoor living areas. Durable and sustainable materials, such as wood, natural stone, and weathering steel, underpin a vision of green areas as integral parts of domestic architecture. Integrating innovative technologies – such as outdoor underfloor heating, bioclimatic pergolas, automated roofing, and photovoltaic panels – into a design are just some of the ways architects can combine efficiency, resistance, and respect for the environment. Outdoor leisure is not only about functionality, however. The aesthetic aspect and dialogue with the surrounding landscape also play fundamental roles. Green walls and roofs, and gardens with native plants create visual links between the built and natural environments, supporting people’s physical and psychological well-being and creating added value for the real estate market.
