Happiness is the theme of the Superdesign Show 2025, which will take place from April 7 to 13 in the spaces of Superstudio Più, in the heart of the Tortona District, during Milan Design Week. This year's edition also features a rich program of installations and meetings, focusing on materials, furniture, sustainability, artisanal craftsmanship, art, and virtual reality.
With the participation of over 70 designers from ten countries and more than 20 projects on display, the Superdesign Show reaffirms itself as a global reference point for trends and future perspectives in design. In an era marked by global uncertainties, the key word chosen for this edition is "happiness"—a concept that becomes a true manifesto, expressed through the exclusive lettering created by graphic artist Daniele Cima and the bright yellow color that defines the exhibition path, curated by art director Giulio Cappellini.
Twenty-five years ago, under the guidance of Flavio Lucchini and Gisella Borioli, Superstudio Più was born, introducing a new exhibition concept in Via Tortona, blending culture, emotion, and innovation. Today, the exhibition Unforgettable – 25 Years of Design at Superstudio celebrates this journey with a retrospective paying tribute to the protagonists of international design, through history, beauty, and social commitment.
Alongside this initiative, several independent installations stand out for their innovative vision. A-UN and Discover Together explore the relationship between humans and machines through an immersive sensory experience, where the visitor's heartbeat intertwines with sounds and lights in a space inspired by "Black Butterfly". Meanwhile, Where Water meets Design transforms water into an element of well-being and innovation, showcasing its power and potential through advanced technological solutions
At Superstudio Più, collective exhibitions serve as spokespersons for visions intertwining culture, tradition, and sustainability. Urban Reflection tells the story of Hong Kong's design scene, blending craftsmanship and upcycled materials, with objects that transform glass and recycled yarns into furniture pieces rich in history and innovation. Thailand presents two exhibitions that capture the vitality and warmth of the country, featuring objects and furniture designed to bring lightness and beauty into everyday life.
The journey is further enriched by Happy Objects, a selection of products reinterpreting the concept of happiness. Among them, the Amore Ocean bench, made from recycled plastic collected from the oceans, stands as a manifesto of sustainability, while Stelle danzanti lamps by Michele Pompilio play with light through perforations that create fascinating reflections.
Closing the path, The Scale of Commitment explores the role of materials in contemporary design, highlighting manufacturers' commitment to creating innovative solutions for a more responsible future.
The Superdesign Show 2025 presents a variety of exhibitions that explore happiness through design. Acmé showcases innovative artisanal objects, while the German National Tourist Board celebrates German design. Flying Flea by Mattia Biagi introduces a motorcycle-sculpture blending nature and design, and Forum8 presents an immersive project featuring advanced technologies.
Other installations, such as GPJ Japan, explore joy through movement, while Habits creates interactive tableware that responds to gestures. Sensitive Space by Istituto Marangoni envisions the future of living spaces, while Lapilli crafts an emotional journey through materials like lava stone.
Letright introduces a smart, eco-sustainable pergola, Niklas Jacob examines the relationship between design and communication through provocative furniture, and Nikolaus Bagnara designs spaces reflecting emotional states. Sogimi presents sculptures made from recycled materials, while Wohl Hutte creates a tea room celebrating Japanese tea culture through modern and artisanal design.
At the Superdesign Show, the intersection of art and design creates a constant exchange of creativity. This dialogue takes shape within the FLA FlavioLucchiniArt Museum, where visitors can admire a vast collection of the artist's works, along with two special installations. Voluptas by HUB161 offers an immersive experience, exploring themes of beauty, desire, and sensuality, while Facades - Order in Chaos by Mao Sagao, hosted in The Lab, invites reflection on urban solitude and life in modern cities.
The FLA Museum also features an underground journey revealing Flavio Lucchini’s contemporary archive, with a preview of his creations. This preview is also showcased at MyOwnGallery, with the exhibition Enjoy, displaying previously unseen works.
The talks and presentations at the Superdesign Show provide opportunities for dialogue between artists and visitors. Among the main events, the talk Good Design and Architecture Create Happiness explores how design and architecture contribute to happiness, while Matrix4Design hosts a discussion on the concept of happiness with authors of books on the subject.
The Meet the Artist sessions offer a chance to discover the work of artists such as Daniele Cima, Mao Sagao, Carla Tolomeo, Davide Dall'Osso, and Mattia Biagi.
