From April 7 to 13, 2025, the city of Milan will once again take center stage in the international design scene with Fuorisalone. Together with the Salone del Mobile, it will transform the city into a hub of innovation, sustainability, and creativity.
This year’s theme, “Connected Worlds”, invites us to explore how design can act as a bridge between nature, technology, and cultural traditions. The goal is to reflect on how these dimensions can integrate and create new, more immersive and interactive experiences, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence.
"Each year, the theme we choose represents and translates the essence of Fuorisalone: an opportunity to explore design’s potential in forging meaningful connections across different fields of contemporary life. 'Connected Worlds' aims to be a vision of the present that anticipates the future, where design and artificial intelligence collaborate to create a more interactive and immersive world. Milan Design Week 2025 becomes a true laboratory of ideas, shaping the future of design as always."
Paolo Casati, Co-founder and Creative Director of Studiolabo
The “Connected Worlds” theme comes to life in the installation "Portanuova Vertical Connection"—a fully accessible layher structure that invites visitors to embark on an interactive and sensory experience guided by AI. Open from April 4 to 13, this project is designed by studio Evastomper, with scientific contributions from Professor Stefano Mancuso, a renowned plant neurobiologist and botany expert.
The visual campaign for the 2025 edition, designed by Silvia Badalotti, features symbolic images exploring the connections between people, technology, and nature. Her work emphasizes how design can promote global unity and strengthen the relationships between humanity, technology, and the environment. The central concept is circularity: humanity creates technology, technology impacts nature, and the consequences on nature, in turn, affect humanity.
The campaign revolves around three main elements in dialogue:
The design districts will take center stage at Fuorisalone 2025, offering a diverse and dynamic program. Brera Design District, with its Brera Design Week, will explore themes such as material innovation and sustainable design, featuring 204 permanent showrooms, including 10 new openings, and over 170 temporary exhibitors. This expansion, along with the participation of investors and sponsors, will result in a lineup of more than 300 events, solidifying Brera’s position as the heart of Fuorisalone.
Tortona will introduce a fresh concept, bringing together events like Tortona Rocks and Superstudio, with a strong focus on current trends and innovative projects. 5VIE, under the theme "Invisible Harmonies", will intertwine design and art, offering a unique creative dialogue. Isola Design Festival will reflect on the role of people in the creative process, emphasizing human-centered design.
Other districts, such as Durini, Porta Venezia, and Sarpi, will offer immersive experiences, covering themes from sustainability to inclusivity, further reinforcing Milan’s role as a global design capital.
Returning for its fourth edition, the Fuorisalone Award, created by Studiolabo, recognizes the best installations and projects presented during Milan Design Week.
This year, 12 projects will compete for public votes on a dedicated section of the Fuorisalone.it platform, where each installation will be showcased with event details, photos, and in-depth content.
In addition to the public vote, a selected jury and the Fuorisalone.it editorial team will evaluate the projects based on innovation, quality, and significance, awarding three special mentions in the categories of Sustainability, Technology, and Communication.
Also making a comeback is the e.Reporter project, launched in 2003. This initiative involves students from design, architecture, and visual arts programs, as well as photography and audiovisual enthusiasts. Their mission? To capture and narrate Fuorisalone through the eyes of the next generation of designers, providing an authentic and creative perspective on the event.
