Salone del Mobile 2024 opened its doors on Tuesday morning at the Fiera Milan exhibition complex, where it will run through Sunday, April 21. The keyword at the 62nd edition of the event is evolution, with the focus on issues such as environmental responsibility and regeneration, artisanal manufacturing, technological innovation, and design culture.
This year, the event will see over 1950 exhibitors come to Milan from 35 countries, including for the parallel kitchen and bathroom shows, with the 24th EuroCucina taking place in Pavilions 2 and 4, and the 10th Salone Internazionale del Bagno in Pavilions 6 and 10.
As Maria Porro, president of the event, pointed out, Salone del Mobile is becoming increasingly sustainable and increasingly open to experimentation. It embraces everything from neuroscience, applied to the redesign of layouts, to a large cultural component, with the event hosting various poignant and even mysterious installations, such as Interiors by David Lynch. A Thinking Room, and immersive, larger-than-life works, like Under the Surface by Salotto NYC.
The event also features an engaging series of discussions in the Arena, designed by FormaFantasma, entitled Drafting Futures. Conversations about Next Perspectives, which will see the participation of leading figures from architecture and contemporary languages, ranging from Pritzker prizewinner Francis Kéré to Hans Ulrich Obrist.
The works of 600 young designers will feature at SaloneSatellite, which this year is celebrating its 25th anniversary with the theme Connecting Design since 1998 to highlight the value of the event as an important networking opportunity for emerging professionals and companies from around the world.
Salone del Mobile is open to trade visitors every day 9:30 am – 6:30 pm. It’s also open to the public on the weekend. A first this year is that students will also be able to visit the event on Friday 19, with a reduced ticket price of €15.
