The exhibition “Intelligens. Talent. EUmies Awards Young Talent 2025” opened on May 9 in Venice, as a Collateral Event of the 19th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia. Hosted at Palazzo Mora (Cannaregio 3659), the exhibition is open to the public from May 10 to November 23, 2025, showcasing the finalist and winning projects of the EUmies Awards Young Talent. It offers a glimpse into the most promising research emerging from European and international architecture schools.

The exhibition features photographs, drawings, models, and videos of the selected works, presenting 12 finalist projects from 11 schools in 7 European countries. These are accompanied by 5 finalists in the Young Talent Open category, which broadens the geographical scope to include schools from Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and non-Creative Europe Council of Europe member countries. The selection encompasses a wide range of approaches, scales, and contexts—from rural landscapes to metropolitan infrastructures—addressing key themes such as housing, climate change, resilience, intergenerational equity, labor, and culture. Each project is grounded in a thorough analysis of social and territorial dynamics, offering an architectural proposal that serves as both a critical and design tool.

Among the European finalists are explorations on reuse (Beyond Demolition, Tabacalera), urban identity (Other Monuments, Rescripted Neapolitan Realities), labor infrastructures (Street Runners), and temporary living solutions (Hotel Interim). These are joined by narrative and linguistic experiments such as Ruining the Ruinous Ruin and Sacred, which examine the symbolic potential of architecture. Courtesy of EUmies Award

In the Young Talent Open category, standout entries include reflections on territory-community relations like The Belmonte Tomato Farmers Cooperative, river landscape interventions (Bridging the Maribyrnong), and proposals that reinterpret urban vernacular through a contemporary lens (Reimagining Urban Vernacular). The award, promoted by the Fundació Mies van der Rohe with the support of the European Union’s Creative Europe Programme, targets Master’s thesis projects completed between January 2023 and December 2024. Its aim is not only to recognize young talent but also to emphasize the educational value of architectural design as a synthesis of technical, cultural, and social knowledge. The initiative fosters dialogue between schools and educational systems, highlighting the importance of an open and creative learning environment. The jury itself underlined the diversity of approaches as a key resource for the future of the discipline.
