Monaco’s Jardin Exotique is an earthly paradise in miniature and a botanical wonder teeming with striking and unusual flora from around the world. It is also a vantage point from where visitors can take in the city’s beauty from above. This botanical garden was the inspiration behind the interior design of a sumptuous 260 sq. m penthouse on the 26^th floor of a skyscraper in Luxembourg. The work of DNA Design Lab, the project features expansive glazing offering views of the entire city. Nature has been brought into the apartment through the designers’ selection of colors and materials, including Antolini® stone supplied by Marble&Granite Services, a Veronese company specialized in custom fabrication of natural stone.

Underlying the project is a color palette based on tones of beige. This led to the selection of the neutral, sandy colors of Camouflage marble from the Natural Stone Collection, which sets the scene for all the other colors in the penthouse and acts as a connecting thread throughout the design. The stone is a feature of the kitchen, where it is used on the walls, countertops, and dining table top, while in the living and dining areas, Camouflage emphasizes the verticality of the spaces. The living area connects directly to a covered terrace that features two different Antolini® stones from the Exclusive Collection series. The shades of Camouflage are repeated with even more delicate nuances by Taj Mahal® quartzite on the walls and floors, which pairs with natural Cristallo Traslux quartz. Immediately drawing the eye, this last material is used for the backlit bar counter, which, because of the material’s delicate veining on a pearly background, becomes a monolith of light overlooking the panorama. Finally, the warm hues of Cappuccino granite and the pristine whiteness of Calacatta marble set the scene in the bathrooms. Both matte finishes emphasize the natural veining of the materials, including from a tactile perspective.
