Engineering company Buromilan, headed by Maurizio and Massimiliano Milan, is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. It’s marking the milestone by organizing an exhibition as part of Milan Design Week, where, for the first time, it will offer the public a window onto its work, distinguished by a commitment to technical excellence, experimentation, and research.
Entitled Behind the Impossible, the exhibition will run Monday, April 17 through Sunday, April 23 in the historical Fonderia Napoleonica Eugenia as part of Isola Design District 2023. Through photographs, study models, sketches, and graphic designs, the event will showcase some of the firm’s most iconic projects. The official opening, a private event organized in collaboration with THE PLAN, will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18. The exhibition will be open to the public 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. for the entire week of Fuorisalone.
During a career that spans over forty years, Maurizio Milan has combined engineering and creativity, working with leading international architects and clients, and developing designs from feasibility to implementation. In 2013, Maurizio and his son Massimiliano set up Milan Ingegneria.
Today, ten years after the company was established, Milan Ingegneria has restyled as Buromilan, bringing with it all the experience and know-how acquired in the design and construction of civil, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects in both the public and private sectors. In all, the firm has put its name to over a thousand complex projects. This is a company distinguished by a multidisciplinary approach, fueled by a desire to experiment and create new, unconventional solutions in response to every brief.
Everything invisible has great value. It’s often taken for granted, because it’s hidden. This is also true of all the work that goes into the final implementation of a project – those endless hours of research, study, in-depth analysis, and testing.
We work with our brains, energy, dedication, and a desire to be involved. We are dynamic, ambitious, and courageous because there’s always a way, there’s always a solution. Sometimes it only comes after hours of work and experimentation. Sometimes it’s the result of intuition or years of experience. The satisfaction of placing your hand on the completed result makes the journey both rewarding and stimulating.
We are creative engineers. This allows us to make seemingly impossible ideas concrete. And, therefore, give value to the invisible.
