An investment of over 64 million euros will give life to an innovative university campus in the area of the former Villaggio Mediterraneo, in Chieti. The project will stand as an example of sustainable, cutting-edge architecture, integrated into the landscape.
The project, commissioned by the University “Gabriele d’Annunzio” of Chieti-Pescara and entrusted to a consortium of excellence composed of MCA – Mario Cucinella Architects, iDEAS, Tekser, LAP Architettura, PARCNOUVEAU STP, GAE Engineering – Ambiente, CFA (General Contractor) and other specialized partners, will mark an important step toward the creation of a new urban ecosystem for the city.

The development involves the construction of a complex, articulated, and functional system, capable of combining architecture, landscape, and the well-being of its inhabitants. The campus will be built on a strategic area, with five interconnected buildings integrated into the surrounding natural context.
At the center of the project will be an “agorà”, a hub of social interaction and shared pathways, serving as the beating heart of the campus, connected to the adjacent urban road network by a pedestrian bridge. The structure will include an auditorium with 500 seats, offices for 200 people, three classrooms, a natural amphitheater, and spaces dedicated to well-being such as a gym, nursery, and relaxation areas. Two underground parking lots and green pathways will complete the project, creating an area designed to promote permeability, natural light, and interaction between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Innovation and sustainability are the cornerstones of the project. The entire structure will be built using dry construction techniques, minimizing on-site work and favoring the use of prefabricated elements ready to be assembled with mechanical joints. This choice will significantly reduce construction time, lower environmental impact, and ensure a high level of quality and precision.
Special attention is given to anti-seismic design, fundamental considering the seismic nature of Chieti. The structure will be equipped with bracing elements such as prefabricated reinforced concrete cores and braced frames with inverted V diagonals.
