3TI Progetti is a major player in Italian engineering, included in the Top 225 International Design Firms ranking compiled by the US magazine “ENR (Engineering News Record)”. 3TI Progetti was founded in Rome in 1997 by Alfredo Ingletti, Giovanni Maria Cepparotti and Stefano Luca Possati. In those years the italian high-speed rail network was developing with a strong boost and this became the first sector in which the company was engaged. Afterwards, the range of action was expanded to other transport and social infrastructures, such as hospitals and schools.
In 2012, according to a precise strategic choice, 3TI Progetti began to undertake an internationalization process and today the company operates in over 70 countries around the world. The company combines design and construction management with strategic consultancy, in the infrastructures field, enhancing the existing building heritage, reducing consumption and using renewable energy sources, operating at every scale, from small specialized interventions to territorial level masterplans.
In 2022, the company celebrated 25 years, looking beyond the first generation to implement the Anglo-Saxon employee owned model. On the occasion of this important anniversary, THE PLAN Editions edited and published A journey through 3TI Progetti. From consulting engineering to completed projects, 1997-2022. The book is structured as a series of chapters, presenting a descriptive text, personal accounts from the firm’s principals, and original drawings and photographic images of major projects.
"First and foremost, designing is drawing. Drawing is our first childhood form of structured communication, before language even. Our journey began 25 years ago, around an old table with a pencil in hand, drawing our first designs and mapping out 3TI’s future. We have never stopped moving forward since then; we have no intention of doing so. We believe it is vital to love what you do. We work every day to improve the quality of our projects, abiding by the principles of integrity that have always been the foundation of our operations. In the “Poetics of Music”, Igor Stravinsky writes that one cannot force oneself to love, but one can force oneself to gain knowledge, and one can only gain knowledge through engagement. Gaining knowledge to love, loving to gain knowledge. Browsing quickly through the highlights of these past 25 years, it becomes clear that from this original core, a group of people have walked a path together, focusing all efforts and energies on building our future and cultivating knowledge. These are the principles that have underpinned how we envision our community and how we have boldly pursued our future with passion. And to think, we are just at the beginning..."
