Using a pentagon as the primitive form enabled Ed Swan to make each side of the tables and stools in the Shift Series from different American hardwoods in various orientations. Thus the simple act of moving an element has a tangible effect - something geometric and graphical yet straightforward and satisfying. When stacked these sections are an adjustable patchwork of wood grains and colour, with hundreds of combinations. When used in clusters they become a table and stools which nest together playing with their panelling geometry once again.

With minimal contact between the two materials, the apex of the cone is the only part of the wood in direct contact with the glass, creating a sharp visual contrast whilst encapsulating and highlighting the beauty of the maple, cherry, red oak, ash, and tulipwood cones.

In a collaboration between AHEC and Benchmark for London Design Festival, John Pawson commissions Studio Areti to create 'Room'; room essentials made out of American white oak and walnut.

In a collaboration between AHEC and Benchmark for London Design Festival, Paul Smith commissions Nathalie de Leval to create 'Paul's Shed'; a shed made out of thermally modified American ash.

One of ten projects created for The Wish List, an exhibition involving ten affluent figures in the design world who commission and guide ten young designers to create what they have always wanted. A moving video on 'the ladder that likes the wall'. Exhibited at the V & A for London Design Festival 2014.
