This publication is the result of a multi-year collaboration between the Università di Napoli Federico II and the HTWK Leipzig University of Applied Sciences and aims at providing a critical reading of how in Italy and Germany, countries characterized by different architectural project management and technical policies, the digitalization of the building process for public works is slowly making its way as a tool for the management of complex projects. The comparison tries to highlight limits and potentialities of the computational methodologies adopted in both countries, identifying elements of possible evolution, in order to make the logic of the participatory model more adherent to the specificities of the respective national markets.
