Blending a 100% aluminum weft with a warp composed of PVC, polyester and stainless steel – materials prized for exterior solar-shading systems – Medit has developed Vertigo, a patented metallic screen fabric. Its strengths lie in a clear design sensibility, notable transparency and robust durability, paired with strong optical performance and impressive energy efficiency. Thanks to its high transparency, Vertigo offers clearer outward visibility than conventional fabrics, while allowing greater airflow and so improved air quality, and increased daylight. Its openness factor reaches roughly 12% – more than double the industry average of under 5% – with solar reflection just under 53% and light transmission exceeding 16%. Together, these characteristics deliver interiors with better visual comfort, increased privacy and reduced thermal load, translating into meaningful energy savings. The result is a versatile solution suited to both residential architecture and workplace environments.
Thanks to its strength and long-term durability, Vertigo can be installed in projects across a wide range of climates in differing parts of the world, including places exposed to extreme conditions – from high winds (it has Class 3 wind-resistance certification) to elevated humidity. It also carries a Class 1 reaction-to-fire rating, along with salt-spray corrosion-resistance certification, which really is a key advantage for installations in coastal environments.
Vertigo is paired with the ET755 exterior roller system, featuring a mechanical motor with adjustable limit switches. The system is characterized by an aluminum cassette headbox of round section and matching bottom bar, a galvanized-steel roller tube, stainless-steel brackets and supports,
and AISI 316 stainless-steel guide cables.
Offering maximum design flexibility to match project requirements, it can be installed ceiling-mounted, wall-mounted or recessed. Two additional qualities further enhance Vertigo’s functional performance and increase the installation options: its low weight and minimal thickness allow it to be used like a conventional screen fabric, without additional clearance requirements or special winding or lifting mechanisms.
