With options ranging from glossy to satin, and from vibrant to deep tones, bronze is a noble and enduring material that adds distinctive character to any design space. Its natural oxidation process gives it a spectrum of evolving hues over time, moving from the gilded warmth of classic browns to deeper, richer tones. This transformation can be controlled and accelerated with special coatings or halted altogether with protective surface treatments, allowing designers to achieve the precise hue best suited to each individual project. When used for window and door frames, as in the BronzoFinestra series by Ottostumm | Mogs, this copper alloy demonstrates remarkable versatility, making it suitable for both contemporary designs and architectural restoration projects. This adaptability is due in part to the extensive customization options available for each frame, including a wide selection of accessories spanning from modern to retro in style.
A notable example is Treviso Tiramisù at Palazzina Barberia in Treviso, Italy, where BronzoFinestra B75 TB (Thermal Barrier) windows and doors are seamlessly integrated into the Renaissance structure of the building. The refined architectural interventions by architects Paolo Lucchetta + RetailDesign, Gianluca Trovó and Miyako Noda ensure that the frames not only impeccably complement the historical esthetics, but also meet demanding thermal and acoustic insulation standards.
For the De Castelli showroom in Milan, designed by CZA Cino Zucchi Architetti, the BronzoFinestra B40 series was used instead. This choice reflects a contemporary approach that respects the historical context, with its minimal design and perfect symmetries reminiscent of the FerroFinestra W40 series. The B40 series reinterprets classical esthetics either through the evocative interplay of overlapping profiles or through a more modern interpretation with the perfectly flush alignment of the frames, striking a balance between heritage and modernity.
