At Intuit’s campus in Mountain View, California, the Bayshore Building takes shape as the second ground-up office building designed by Clive Wilkinson Architects for the American software company.
Conceived before the pandemic and extensively redesigned internally during construction, the 16,600-square-metre complex reinterprets the contemporary workplace as an adaptive environment capable of accommodating both operational and relational needs.

The project carries a distinctive story: originally conceived before 2020, it was forced to confront a profound reassessment of its initial intentions. The pandemic permanently transformed working habits, challenging the timing, modes and meaning of physical presence in the office.
From this transition emerged a four-storey, LEED Platinum-certified building designed for 960 employees working in a hybrid model combining in-office and remote work. The floors are organised into human-scaled neighbourhoods: areas dedicated to individual teams, with spaces for collaboration, focused work and social interaction.

Flexibility is also supported by precise technical strategies. The raised access floor system allows infrastructure to be reconfigured over time, enabling the building to adapt to evolving business needs without structural intervention.

The experience of the building revolves around a large triple-height atrium, the luminous and social heart of the project. Flooded with natural light from linear skylights above, the space is vertically animated by a blue metal-clad stair winding through cantilevered meeting pods and balconies overlooking the central void.

Around this core, open-plan workspaces unfold through a language that blends elements and atmospheres drawn from contemporary hospitality design. The brand’s signature blue is paired with warm timber, greenery and tactile finishes, transforming the office into a dynamic and welcoming landscape.
The building’s identity is immediately recognisable from the entrance itself: a reflective metal wall frames the reception area, where the desk flows seamlessly into the polished concrete flooring. Nearby sits the “Little House”, a more intimate, hospitality-oriented space embedded within the larger scale of the office, conceived as a kind of precious “jewel box”.

The diversity of environments reflects a desire to accommodate different professional and personal needs alike. Quiet libraries, music and reflection rooms, play areas, dining spaces and collaborative hubs are distributed throughout the building to encourage movement, interaction and moments of pause.

The office becomes a relational and cultural infrastructure, capable of expressing the company’s values of inclusion, flexibility and attention to the human experience, while also embodying a contemporary condition in constant evolution.
