From soaring skyscrapers to bustling airports, from sports arenas to hotels, and across the great civic buildings of global cities, glass emerges as one of architecture’s most dynamic materials, constantly being reimagined in solutions that continue to push the boundaries. For many years, this has been the mission driving the Advanced Interlayer Solutions (AIS) division of Kuraray Group – a renowned Japanese company with a worldwide presence, operating across fields from architecture to automotive and transport. Decades of research and development have led AIS to pioneer laminated glass that is safer, stronger and more high-performing than ever before. These innovations guarantee UV protection, sound insulation and environmental comfort, even in the harshest climate conditions. At the core are two flagship high-performance interlayers from AIS: Trosifol® PVB and SentryGlas® ionoplast.

Trosifol® PVB, known for its excellent light transmission and extremely minimal yellowing, has recently been upgraded with the
Trosifol® R3 line, made using recycled materials and lower-impact production processes that cut carbon emissions by an estimated 90% compared with the standard version.

SentryGlas® ionoplast – the other flagship – stands out for its edge stability, clarity and strength, making it ideal for open-edge or even load-bearing applications. Like Trosifol® PVB, SentryGlas® ionoplast is also used in security and bulletproof glazing thanks to its outstanding safety performance.

Most recently, to give architects and designers the tools to measure the carbon footprint of their choices, the company introduced Carbon Reduce AI, a platform that enables data-based assessment. A concrete example of these advances is Venice’s Marco Polo Airport, where Kuraray’s advanced interlayer technology was integral to the expansion project.
