The art of gelato merges with the world of fragrance in the interiors of Gelato Collection in Barcelona, a concept created by chef Albert Adrià in collaboration with the designers of El Equipo Creativo.
The venue draws inspiration from the tradition of perfumers who catalogue their creations by numbering them: the gelateria is thus redefined as a "gelato jewelry shop", an archive of unique and numbered recipes that form an exclusive collection of flavors, distinguished by meticulous research and creative refinement.
Designed as a refuge from Barcelona’s hot climate, the space of Gelato Collection is both sophisticated and minimalist. It evokes the image of perfumeries and jewelry boutiques, abandoning the conventional aesthetics of ice cream shops to offer visitors a multisensory experience.
At the entrance, three large custom-made octagonal lamps in textured glass appear to float within the double-height space, casting a cool light that recalls the purity of ice and creating a magical atmosphere that invites passersby along the Rambla to step inside.
The focal point of the project is the display case showcasing the various flavors, reminiscent of perfume bottles or jewelry boxes used to safeguard precious gems. Its surface, clad in fluted glass, conveys a sensation of freshness—almost glacial—and harmonizes with the metallic and champagne-toned walls, made of large-format ceramic slabs with a texture that recalls the creaminess of gelato.
