At the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, the global symbol of entertainment, rises Encore Wynn, a prestigious resort realized by Wynn Design Development (WDD), the internal design team for Wynn Resorts. Encore Wynn combines hospitality, dining, and retail in a single luxurious destination.

In a city defined by excess, the building stands out for its harmonious balance between grandeur and intimacy, setting a new paradigm for high-end hospitality in the Nevada desert.

After the success of Wynn Las Vegas, built in the early 2000s on the site of the historic Desert Inn, American entrepreneur Steve Wynn decided to further expand the property’s hospitality and entertainment offering with a twin and complementary developmentEncore Las Vegas.

Located within a second tower, rising just north of the original Wynn building and directly connected to it, Encore opened its doors in December 2008. The project, with WATG (Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo) serving as Architect of Record, added new hotel rooms, gaming areas, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs, further enhancing the prestige and range of amenities within the iconic resort complex. Finally, a luxury retail Strip-front expansion, Wynn Plaza, debuted in late 2018.

Wynn & Encore Resorts feature 2,716 rooms and suites at Wynn Las Vegas and 2,034 at Encore, with both properties awarded the prestigious Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star rating. The retail spaces at Wynn & Encore Resorts showcase top Italian luxury brands such as Brioni, Gucci, and Bottega Veneta, while its food & beverage selection includes standouts like Cipriani Italian Restaurant and Urth Caffé Coffee & Tea Shop.

Between Intimacy and New Entertainment Spaces

A key feature of the Encore Wynn project is its ability to create a sense of intimacy within a monumental structure. The resort unfolds as a series of thematic “neighborhoods”, each with its own aesthetic and function, allowing guests to enjoy a personalized experience.Encore Wynn Las Vegas - WATG © Eric Figge Photography, courtesy WATG e WDD

The relationship between interior and exterior is a guiding principle throughout the design: from the porte-cochère entrance, which introduces guests to the discreet grandeur of the lobby, to the poolside areas inspired by European gardens. The architecture blends modernity and classicism—columns, arches, and pergolas alternate with glass surfaces and soft curves. The atmosphere merges warmth and prestige, emphasizing comfort and the sensory quality of space.Encore Wynn Las Vegas - WATG © Eric Figge Photography, courtesy WATG e WDD

Another defining element is the reinterpretation of the gaming environment. Moving away from the artificial imagery typical of entertainment architecture, Encore Wynn favors natural light. At the heart of the resort lies a bright, open space composed of nine gaming pavilions, framed by columns and lightweight canopies that open onto pools and inner gardens.

In this way, the hotel conveys a vision of hospitality, entertainment, and monumentality deeply rooted in its context—offering guests a refined expression of material and experiential exclusivity.
