Bōzu, before being a lamp, is an object that tells a story. The idea was born from the fusion of Japanese tradition and Italian design, reinterpreting the teru teru bōzu, a lucky charm linked to light. The connection to light is inherent in the name itself: teru teru means “to shine” / “bright.” The concept preserves the simplicity of conical and spherical shapes, blending minimalism with tactile materials. The upper ring evolved from a mere aesthetic detail to an interactive element that controls light intensity. The project focused on light quality, versatility, and material dialogue, resulting in an elegant, innovative object rich in symbolic meaning.

Bōzu integrates with its surrounding environment through its essential form and the material dialogue between metal, glass, and leather, evoking a balance between tradition and modernity. The dual light sources create dynamic, adjustable atmospheres that enhance any setting, from residential to urban contract spaces. Its visual lightness and quality of light allow the lamp to enrich without overpowering, establishing a harmonious relationship with the surrounding space. Bōzu becomes not just a source of illumination, but an element that narrates and interprets the environment with elegance, poetry, and a strong cultural identity.

The Bōzu project places particular emphasis on sustainability through the choice of durable materials and low-impact technologies. The galvanized metal structure with matte black paint ensures resistance and longevity. The diffuser, made of white opaline Murano triplex glass, highlights the use of natural and artisanal high-quality materials, promoting a sustainable lifecycle. LED lighting represents an efficient, low-energy technology that reduces the overall environmental impact of the product. The matte black finish combined with brushed pure gold and, in the suspension versions, the natural leather insert, emphasizes attention to precious and sustainable materials. The design considers eco-friendly criteria and durability.

The story of Bōzu expresses artisanal mastery turned into narrative. Design and craftsmanship merge to transform any space into an emotional and engaging experience. The project stems from the desire to translate the essence of the teru teru bōzu into a lighting object that combines iconic simplicity, refined contemporaneity, and functionality. A balanced contrast between the pleated metal base and the opaline glass sphere creates a material dialogue between glossy and textured surfaces. This interplay is not merely aesthetic but enhances the quality and diffusion of light, giving the object an elegant and harmonious visual impact within the space. The evolution of the upper ring, initially an aesthetic detail, has become a key component: in the table version, it functions as an intuitive control to turn on and adjust light intensity, while in the suspension versions, it elegantly connects the structure to the light source. The use of noble materials such as metal, glass, and leather emphasizes the lamp’s artisanal and unique character, lending it lightness, personality, and a strong tactile quality. Bōzu is not just a light source but a poetic narrative that unites tradition and modernity through a simple and refined language.
