The design draws inspiration from the elegant aesthetics of Song Dynasty-style oriental gardens, integrating the naturalness, stylistic charm, cultural depth, and artistic essence of Ningbo’s local culture. Set against the narrative backdrop of traditional Eastern courtyards, it harmonizes with the resort’s natural mountain-lake landscape, aiming to craft a spiritual yearning through spatial storytelling that blends historical with contemporary design.

Architectural appearance

Nestled by Baoyun Lake in Hangzhou’s Qianwan area, overlooking the 95,700-mu Ningbo Bay National Wetland Park and adjacent to Huangxian Forest’s Dongyuan Tower and Xilin Temple, the hotel interacts seamlessly with its natural and cultural surroundings. Architectural elements like sloped-roof courtyard structures, lattice openings, and floor-to-ceiling windows create a dialogue between indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing guests to immerse in nature’s beauty—from maple leaf shadows in courtyards to the play of light through lattice windows—while preserving the serenity of the landscape.

Landscape

While not explicitly labeled as "sustainable," the design embodies holistic value by integrating environmental, social, and cultural dimensions. It uses natural materials like wood and jade for lighting to evoke a sense of harmony with nature, promotes mental well-being through serene spaces that cater to diverse age groups, and preserves local cultural heritage via Song Dynasty-inspired aesthetics, indirectly contributing to long-term cultural and social sustainability.

The reception hall

The resort features 71 Chinese-style courtyard guest rooms that blend Song Dynasty garden elegance with natural scenery, offering an immersive stay experience. Key design strengths include the application of the peak-end rule to create emotional highlights, seamless integration of wooden structures and soft lighting for warmth and relaxation, geometric lines balancing dramatic tension with minimalist tranquility, and multifunctional spaces (wellness, dining, meetings) that cater to modern urbanites’ needs for escape and rejuvenation. The all-in-one design avoids clutter, emphasizing spatial flow and a balance between macro architecture and micro details, while the pool area’s mountain-water inspired aesthetics enhance the resort’s tranquil, resort-like ambiance.

Restaurant
Emphasizing the balance between aesthetic innovation and contextual respect, the owner views the resort as a testament to how design can elevate both guest experiences and regional identity, positioning it as a benchmark for culturally rooted, nature-immersive hospitality that blends commercial viability with timeless elegance.
