The project originated from the desire to preserve and enhance the architectural identity of Villa Marchi, a 1950s residence of notable character, originally designed as both home and medical practice. Drawing from the building’s Scarpa-inspired language, the concept developed through a careful reading of the existing spatial and material qualities. 3ndy Studio aimed to reinforce the original plan’s clarity and refine its discreet yet sophisticated aesthetic by integrating contemporary design principles while maintaining the integrity of the structure.

The relationship between the villa and its surrounding landscape was central to the intervention. The architectural language extends beyond the interior to articulate and order the outdoor spaces. The garden wall, mirroring the internal division of volumes, defines a spatial rhythm and frames the approach to the upper floor, enhancing the connection between built form and open space. The overall design maintains a measured dialogue with its setting, favoring spatial continuity and visual coherence over disruption.
The renovation demonstrates a clear commitment to sustainability through the reuse and preservation of original materials, minimizing waste and respecting the building’s embodied energy. Contemporary technologies were introduced to improve thermal and acoustic performance, enhancing energy efficiency and occupant comfort without compromising architectural integrity. Villa Marchi, originally conceived as a private residence with an adjoining medical practice, was designed in the late 1950s by the architect whose name it bears. The property exhibits architectural features of significant merit, drawing influence from the Venetian school of Carlo Scarpa—most notably in the use of exposed brick, refined detailing, and the coherent integration of form and function. The renovation, undertaken by 3ndy Studio, sought to preserve and elevate these qualities, reinforcing the clarity of the original plan and its discreet yet sophisticated architectural language. The building comprises two distinct volumes, unified yet delineated by a central staircase that functions both as a spatial fulcrum and a separating element. This concept is mirrored externally by a garden wall that articulates the open spaces and defines the sole access to the upper level. The interior intervention carefully mediates between preservation and innovation, combining original materials with contemporary technologies to enhance thermal and acoustic comfort. Clean lines, spatial restraint, and a calibrated lighting strategy shape a coherent and composed domestic environment. Custom furnishings reinforce the bespoke nature of the intervention. The project is completed by the addition of a swimming pool, establishing a measured dialogue between built form and landscape. Villa Marchi exemplifies the balance between architectural continuity and contemporary reinterpretation.

Marco Mazzetto and Alessandro Lazzari founded 3ndy Studio in 2002, soon after completing their Master’s degrees at IUAV – University of Architecture in Venice. From the very beginning, the studio has focused on architectural design across all scales—from product design to buildings and urban planning—blending creativity, research, and technical expertise. Today, 3ndy Studio is a well-established and dynamic practice with a strong portfolio of successful projects in Italy and abroad. It serves as a meeting point for diverse skills and creative minds. In recent years, the studio has expanded to include new architects, interior designers, and product designers, allowing it to meet new challenges and market demands.
