JOE.LALLI VALLEY VILLA, a residential community in harmony with nature

The project is situated on a steep, densely vegetated hillside with rare trees, adjacent to a man-made lake. With a 1.0 FAR, it's a high-density development.
Unlike conventional destructive approaches, we seek to balance economic, environmental, and social benefits. Our goal is to create a residential community in harmony with nature.
Instead of flattening the terrain, we preserved the hillside and vegetation, using a suspended steel structure to elevate buildings above the trees. Homes follow the slope's contours, blending with the mountain while ensuring sunlight and views.

The architectural complex is in harmony with the natural terrain, resembling a village that grows naturally

Located by Changlinwu Lake in Moganshan, 1.5 km from the town, the project sits on a steep northern slope with stunning lake and mountain views to the south.
We explore a development model that respects nature and ecology, offering a design and environmental protection solution for high-density, steep terrains. This approach sets a benchmark for urban development, ecological restoration, and construction in pristine natural settings.

03Architecture conforms to the terrain layout

We hope to create a truly green and healthy residential community. Here, residents are encouraged to enter the nature to get in touch with sunshine, air and water. People can easily use passive doors and windows to ventilate and exchange energy, reducing carbon emissions. At the same time, people can also intuitively feel the real value of rainwater recovery system and rainwater infiltration system for human residence, not only for the protection of nature, but also for human protection. The carefully protected native vegetation not only provides a comfortable shade environment for residents and buildings, but also reduces the surface temperature through evaporation, thus reducing the use of carbon energy. This may be a good example of China's carbon neutrality.

04The structure of suspended buildings provides maximum environmental protection
The project strategy achieved outstanding results, successfully preserving the mountainous terrain and native vegetation, which created an superior living environment. The most valuable aspect was the multidisciplinary collaboration among planners, landscape architects, botanists, earthwork experts, architects, MEP engineers, and construction teams. For such a complex project, constant interdisciplinary interaction was crucial to address the challenging terrain and vegetation conditions.
