The site of the Water Factory has always brought people together. Nestled in the heart of the city, surrounded by homes and schools, it was a natural gathering place — a shared space for rest, play, and connection. For generations, outdoor pools gave life to the neighborhood, until time left the area neglected and filled with rubble. Today, that spirit of this place is revived — not by recreating the past, but by building upon it. The Water Factory brings water, life, and people back to where they’ve always belonged. Every aspect of the project, from concept to detail, is shaped by water — the element that connects civilizations and inspires movement. The Water Factory is a dynamic ecosystem. It restores the deeper meaning of this place: a space for people be together once again.

The Water Factory is deeply rooted in its urban context, responding sensitively to both the physical landscape and the social memory of the site. Located in the heart of the city and surrounded by residential buildings and schools, the project reclaims a once-vital public space that had fallen into disrepair. Rather than enclosing or privatizing the area, the design opens it up — transforming the former barrier into a welcoming space that reconnects the neighborhood. By shaping the architecture around a central pedestrian axis and preserving green elements, the project integrates seamlessly with the urban fabric. The result is a vibrant cultural and recreational landscape that invites movement, interaction, and continuity between the city, its residents, and the elemental force of water.
The Water Factory was conceived with sustainability at its core. It revitalizes a neglected urban site into a green, open space that reconnects the neighborhood and supports soft mobility. Passive design strategies—such as building orientation, daylighting, and natural ventilation—reduce energy use. Green roofs and rainwater harvesting manage runoff and support irrigation, while advanced water-saving systems are used across pools and wellness zones. The building uses features such as smart Building Management System to optimize performance. An on-site education center fosters awareness around water and ecology, making sustainability not just a design strategy, but a key part of the user experience. The Water Factory project is located on the site of a former swimming area, surrounded on three sides by densely built residential neighborhoods. This space had been informally used by local residents as a green recreational area. The existing Local Development Plan was originally designed for a much larger investment, which imposed strict requirements regarding building footprint, pool sizes, and the necessity to consolidate all functions within a single building. In response to these constraints and to preserve the local character of the area, the design divides the facility into two separate wings connected by a pedestrian bridge. This solution maintains continuity of public space, creating a linear park accessible to all users, while the bridge itself acts as both a connector and a recreational, symbolic element allowing public flow through the heart of the complex. Functionally, the complex consists of two main zones: the eastern wing with sports pools, sauna, wellness areas, and gastronomy; and the western wing containing the Education Center, sports facilities such as a gym, bowling, and squash, as well as exhibition spaces. The pedestrian bridge links these zones, serving as a multifunctional space. The architectural concept draws inspiration from local cultural and landscape features. This approach makes the Water Factory not only a functional recreational complex but also an integral part of the urban fabric, respecting and enhancing the local identity.
From the very beginning, we knew this project had to be more than just a modern aquapark — it had to reconnect with the community and bring new life to a long-neglected space. The design team balanced functionality with sensitivity to local needs. The transformation of a closed-off plot into an open, inclusive public space exceeded our expectations. The result is not only a destination for recreation and learning, but also a place that genuinely belongs to the city and its people.
