The project blends nature, technology, and inclusivity, making the arena a landmark for the Calabrian community.

The new sports hall, designed as a multifunctional center, aims to attract visitors from all over Calabria and southern Italy. Its strategic location along the Strada Statale 280 dei Due Mari, near the train station, the airport, and the A3 Salerno-Reggio Calabria highway, ensures accessibility for a wide audience, including visitors from outside the city.

The roof, made of a lattice structure composed of thin steel elements and a triple translucent outer membrane consisting of 900 pressurized ETFE (Ethylene Tetrafluoroethylene) cushions, optimizes natural lighting, reduces summer heat gain, and limits winter heat loss, minimizing energy impact. Its aerodynamic shape captures prevailing winds to promote natural ventilation, reducing the need for artificial cooling. Translucent and recyclable materials like ETFE, combined with dynamic lighting systems and transparency, enhance visual comfort and lower energy consumption, ensuring a functional and sustainable building.

Vittorio Grassi Architects is an international design firm made up of architects, engineers, urban planners, and interior designers, organized into compact-creative-motivated teams working on various projects with specific goals. Based in Milan-Via Cenisio 73, the firm develops a wide range of projects: residential, hospitality, office, retail, public buildings, and leisure facilities, most of which are complemented by interior design.
Vittorio Grassi founded the firm in 2005 in Milan, after a long career that began in 1993 and evolved in internationally renowned architecture studios in Paris, London, and Genoa, where he was an associate architect at Renzo Piano’s firm. Over the years, the studio has gained experience and solidity through projects for both private and public clients. It has recently experienced significant growth, thanks to the team’s development, a new corporate structure, the completion of prestigious projects, and the success in various international competitions.
