An ancient millstone located in Castiglione di Sicilia, one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, a charming medieval town set between the imposing volcano of Etna and the striking Alcantara River. The old millstone, looks like a ruin made entirely of local stone, is surrounded by a vast vineyard, representing an important historical and cultural testimony for the area. The project aims to enhance the expressive uniqueness of the area and its vineyards through the transformation of the property into a hospitable and elegant country hotel, with a large shared pool in the inner courtyard and numerous rooms and suites, including one with a private pool.

The old millstone, now in ruins, represented an untapped resource. The goal of the project is to recover and redevelop the building, preserving its authenticity while enhancing the surrounding environment, particularly the local vineyards. The project involves the transformation of the millstone into a country hotel that will offer visitors a unique and authentic experience in the heart of the Sicilian countryside. The main building will be divided into several rooms and suites, each of which will feature an elegant and welcoming style. In addition, one of the suites will feature a private swimming pool, allowing guests to enjoy exclusive moments of relaxation.

The two existing buildings will be linked by a new building body dedicated to reception and guest reception. The central building body will be dedicated to the spacious communal living areas. This area, with its double height, the warmth of wood and the marks of stone, will create a cozy and refined atmosphere. In the center of this space, there will be a helical staircase made of sheet metal, which will be presented as a dominant architectural element. The staircase will accompany guests to the upper floor, where breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside can be admired through a walkway, also made of sheet metal. In the inner courtyard will take place the swimming pool. On the lower floor, will be located the spa, a private and reserved area dedicated to the relaxation and well-being of guests. This area will include a sauna, steam room, and outdoor hidromassage pool. These facilities will allow guests of the facility to be coddled, offering them an experience of luxury and relaxation surrounded by the beauty of the surrounding landscape.

The renovation project represents a significant initiative to enhance the historical-architectural heritage of the area. The transformation of the building into an elegant and hospitable country hotel will allow visitors to enjoy a unique experience in which the beauty of the vineyards and the richness of the land are blended with the comfort and luxury of modern facilities.

Curriculum

The firm is involved in private residential construction, commercial, industrial and public works, hospitality facilities and industrial design, comprehensively managing the process of creating, from concept to site, small- and large-scale architecture. At the beginning of each creative process, guidelines for the plan composition are generally deduced from the urban fabric and, from a series of setbacks from the street wires and empty space in elevation, the architectural form. To the essentiality of compositional gestures is added the use of as many elements of contemporary language, such as folding , interlocking, volumes, projections, voids and full chiaroscuro, masses and transparencies. Moreover, the use of different external skins contributes to the detection of his projects as the result of grafting between monolithic blocks. Designing architecture is a dynamic process, a path, which pushes for continuous new discoveries.
