The Smile The Smile is an urban pavilion made using some of the largest ever panels of American tulipwood CLT. Designed by Alison Brooks and engineered by Arup as a Landmark Project for the London Design Festival 2016, The Smile is set to transform the way we use timber to create space, form and structure. A window to the Arzak Universe Izaskun Chinchilla A window to the Arzak Universe is directly related to the sustainability of the American forests. It uses six different species, mirroring the volume in which they grow -using the most abundant species for the largest pieces and the less abundant ones for the smallest pieces. Timber Revolution Timber has many advantages, but I think the biggest is speed. Timber is lightweight and with computer fabrication it can now be machined to incredibly tight tolerances. This makes it ideal for prefabrication and rapid assembly.
