Located in the heart of Manhattan’s vibrant music scene, Rare Violins of New York is a true sanctuary for musicians and collectors, blending tradition with modernity to offer rare and historic stringed instruments crafted by legendary luthiers such as Antonio Stradivari, Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù and Andrea Amati. Founded in 2002 by Bruno Price and Ziv Arazi – both former musicians who became leading experts on antique stringed instruments – Rare Violins of New York expanded its space in 2023, moving into an innovative showroom of more than 1,000 sq. m in the Carnegie Hall Tower, home to the prestigious Carnegie Hall.

Reflecting the vision of its founders, the design of the new venue embodies an elegant, sophisticated and timeless esthetic, enhanced by luxurious carpets and rare wood elements, including those provided by Listone GIʎNT®, an Italian company founded in 1946 by Adelio Ciambella that specializes in high-quality solid wood flooring. From the many options available, the warm, elegant tones of African Doussié, a type of red wood with an intriguing, dynamic grain, were chosen. Part of the Superior selection, the 20-mm thick African Doussié floor offers excellent performance and high thermal conductivity. The tones of Listone GIʎNT® flooring harmonize beautifully with the wood of the musical instruments on display, creating a sophisticated atmosphere that encourages a deep connection with them. This atmosphere is especially evident in the Grand Room, where instruments are displayed and tested by potential buyers.

Rare Violins of New York offers a full range of services: in addition to sales, appraisals, and purchases, they also restore and maintain instruments. They offer personalized assistance to collectors and musicians in managing transactions and negotiations and they also facilitate and foster connections between artists and patrons through their innovative In Consortium program. All of this takes place in a showroom designed to evoke the artistry of violin making, incorporating esthetic elements that reflect the craft. The textures of the wood are enhanced by warm, natural lighting, creating a welcoming environment that fosters a deep connection between musicians and the instruments on display.
