Through Light and Transparency

Rooted in traditional Mediterranean architecture, 1323 reimagines that heritage through a contemporary lens where natural light takes center stage. Designed by jle arquitectos, the project explores luminosity, material and transparency in carefully balanced proportions and volumes. Set on a 2-ha site near Felanitx, Mallorca – an area with strict landscape and building regulations – the house opens fully to its surroundings, dissolving the boundary between interior and landscape. From the outset, light served as the “anchor” for the project. Through the dematerialization of partitions, expansive windows and sliding doors, the design achieves a level of openness that blurs the boundary between indoors and out, allowing the beauty of the surrounding landscape to become part of the living space. A key contribution in achieving this came from Metra Building, specialists in integrated aluminum systems that merge advanced technology with Italian craftsmanship and sustainability.

To complement the home’s minimalist design, the project features the NC-S 120 STH SLIM sliding aluminum window and door system from Metra’s Minimale line, installed by Alumas 2000. The central patio embodies the project’s architectural concept, acting as both light source and living threshold – bringing daylight deep into the home while dissolving the boundaries between inside and out through sliding doors on every side. The same slim, angular frame – minimal, refined and elegant – was used for the sliding doors on both levels and for the large, fixed curtain wall, ensuring visual continuity throughout. Across the Minimale line, innovative technologies integrate design, performance and functionality, guaranteeing thermal and acoustic insulation and year-round comfort. The result is a home defined by clean, sophisticated lines and enlivened by colorful, carefully curated furnishings that lend a touch of creative vitality.
