Situated to maximize views of the beautiful Northstar California ski resort
Just shy of Lake Tahoe in California the Forest House designed by Faulkner Architects resides in harmony with its surroundings. Its two-acre site is generously peppered with tall timbers-sugar pine, red fir and white fir.
Stretching gently across the stunning site the structure provides an experience of exuberance as one’s journey through the house gives glimpses of the exterior-reminders of its gorgeous context. The green glass screens, board-formed concrete, white gypsum and stone floors exemplify the project’s careful choice of complimenting materials. Sliding glass doors along the south façade extend the living area with a covered deck.
The four-bedroom dwelling was designed with radiant heat, enhanced glazing as well as energy efficient mechanical and electrical equipment to promote sustainability. The galvanized steel panels at the fireplaces playfully reflect the natural light entering the spaces from a multitude of angles optimizing daylighting. Throughout the home unfinished reclaimed teak clads the ceilings and floors. Forest House is a pure delight.
