Triennale Milano
The large arched windows of the historic Palazzo dell’Arte, home to Triennale Milano – a renowned cultural institution in Milan dedicated to contemporary art, design, architecture, fashion, and visual and performing arts – offer sweeping views of Sempione Park and Castello Sforzesco, while also allowing ample natural light into the exhibition spaces. To enhance the visitor experience and make the works on display in this section of the Palazzo more accessible, while protecting the documents that could be damaged by direct sunlight, each of the 19 window frames along the perimeter wall has been equipped with a double solar shading system, specifically designed for the needs of this space and provided by Pellini.
The installation includes 38 motorized roller blinds, comprising two layers for each window: one with Santiago blackout fabric and the other with Screen Essential 3005 filter fabric, both approximately 6.5 m high. The selected products help to perfectly illuminate the space, allowing visitors to freely contemplate the works on display without being disturbed by the sun’s glare or reflection, while at the same time maintaining visual contact with the surrounding panorama, allowing the eye to sweep over the park and the castle.
In particular, the use of the Santiago blackout fabric can block out up to 100,000 lux of light, allowing rooms to be darkened when necessary to create the perfect backdrop for events or photo shoots, while the Screen Essential 3005 filter fabric prevents rooms from overheating, providing glare protection and thermal comfort. This sophisticated combination not only safeguards the works on display but also enhances visitor engagement, allowing them to enjoy the space without interruption. The minimalist and geometric design of the blinds seamlessly integrates into the architectural flow of Palazzo dell’Arte, ensuring that the art remains the focus of attention.
