Transparent reflections
The combination of the Mano de Santo architecture practice and KMZero Open Innovation Hub led to Punta de Mar, a floating home that seeks an amalgam of closeness to nature and the comfort of the latest technologies. Covering 74 sq. m, this houseboat has a lower floor consisting of a cabin with a bedroom, bathroom and private terrace, and an upper floor - the bridge - that is intended entirely for relaxing. Both environments have biodynamic lighting that imitates the changing light during the day. The home automation system can be controlled locally or remotely, using an app, to adapt the level of security, light, sound and aroma diffusion as desired. The architects at Mano de Santo turned to Guardian to provide glazing that offered the desired combination of “contact with nature” and demanding performance. The company actively provided the necessary technical support and proposed a triple glazing: Guardian SunGuard® SN 70/35 HT on the outside, Guardian ExtraClear® between the two other sections of glass, and Guardian ClimaGuard® Premium2. This solution means the sunlight can flow in, but some of the heat is blocked, ensuring excellent thermal insulation. The sliding doors with thin aluminum profiles were chosen to exalt the glazing and expand the views of the surrounding landscape. Inside, Guardian SunGuard® HD Silver 20 was used to create delightful reflections in the bathroom, bedroom and wardrobe.
