Large Open Windows to Embrace City and Sea

On the top floor of a 1970s residential building in Palermo, VD6 House commands a breathtaking dual view: on one side, the azure expanse of the sea unfolds beyond the fish market and port; on the other, La Cala and the vibrant tapestry of the city center paint a captivating panorama. Following an extensive renovation, the interior of the apartment has been meticulously rearranged to accentuate these views, with an emphasis on the expansive windows that frame this panorama.

To optimize both the views and the influx of natural light, Oknoplast’s Prolux Evolution windows and doors were the natural choice, characterized by their slim profiles and minimal central sections, allowing wider double glazing. To ensure a harmonious distribution of daylight throughout the residence, La Leta Architettura’s designers adopted a strategy of minimal new partitioning. Within the living area, a multifunctional wooden storage volume takes center stage, seamlessly integrating elements of a wardrobe, TV cabinet and remote-working station. The transition from wood to stoneware flooring marks the boundary between the kitchen and adjacent living space. The culinary domain has a peninsula clad in black Fenix and an oak wall unit that elegantly frames the Prolux Evolution windows, with a refined, modern design that adds to the space. The PVC window features extra-light, highly transparent glass and a symmetrical design emphasized by the centrally located handle. These features, together with the presence of high-efficiency seals, a class A profile and low-emissivity double glazing, make it a window frame that maximizes light and guarantees high technical parameters, resulting in energy savings.

Completing the apartment are two bedrooms, accessed by passing through a “filter” area between the bedroom and living areas, where there are two bathrooms. The master bedroom also has an en-suite bathroom and a custom-made system that combines the bed and a wardrobe. From here, through Oknoplast windows, there is a view of Castello a Mare, another wonderful glimpse of the city of Palermo.
