House in Krkonoše: harmony between people and nature
By Editorial Staff -

In the Krkonoše Mountains, Czech Republic, Fránek Architects has designed a timeless home in perfect harmony with its natural setting, creating a place to rest, reflect, and live while surrounded by nature.

Built on sloping land, the basement of House in Krkonoše has an entrance off the outdoor swimming pool area. The main entrance and driveway are located at ground level, that is, in the upper part of the building.

The footing of the house is reinforced concrete, while the structure from the ground level up is entirely timber. The exterior of the building, including the roof, is clad with glued larch battens.

By contrast, the interiors are distinguished by their white tones, like a blank canvas waiting to be painted with positive thoughts. The house has a heat pump, while a covered parking space with solar panels and a greenhouse for growing vegetables will be added soon.
