Family house, covering 610m² on a single storey, is designed to be fitted in nature. The main idea was dictated by the site of the building – in the pine forest, near the coast of lake Gulbinai. Building has two volumes, joined by single glass hall structure. Space between the volumes is where two inner yards, carrying assemblence to the japanese gardens, are situated, surrounded by the glass walls. It becomes a part of the interior space and can be seen from main living spaces. The only material used for the walls and roof slopes is dark grey slate plates. Single material is chosen to give house integral look and integrate it to the nature completely. Two volumes of the building represent two different fuction zones. First volume, nearest to the entry road, is closed form with two entrance doors – garage and main entrance to the building. It‘s windowless facade is blind from the passing cars and noise. Garage, service, facilities rooms and areas are located here. The other volume, closest to the lake shore, has an open facade and main living spaces – living room with total height of 5,5 meters, bedrooms. All main spaces are facing the lake through large windows walls. On this side house has huge terrace and open swimming pool.
Structure: Single storey sloped structure with masonry bearing walls, wooden roof beams.
UAB Kančo studija
UAB Kančo studija was established in 1991. Activity includes design works of all-type public buildings, utilitarian structures, individual houses, vilas, and interiors.
Manager – architect Algimantas Kančas.
In 1978, graduated from Vilnius Engineering and Construction Institute (present Vilnius Gediminas University of Technology). From 1978 to 1995, worked for Kaunas Miestprojektas. Since 1996, has been working as a lecturer at Kaunas Faculty, Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts.
The major projects implemented by the Studio: in Kaunas – administration buildings of Kraft Foods Lietuva, Audiotonas, ISM International School of Management, residential complex "Fredos miestelis", "Akropolis" (with the Studio of G. Jurevičius); in other places – Residential district Žaliasis slėnis in Klaipėda (with the Studio of E.Miliūnas), individual dwelling houses in different cities and towns.
