When the Poggenpohl Hampstead team embarked on the kitchen design for a fine country house in the English countryside, their aim was to create a kitchen in which esthetics and functionality coexisted in harmonious dialogue, while preserving the architectural features of the room. To really accentuate the large windows crowned by arches that characterize this manor home, including the kitchen, a floating countertop was created that minimizes the space required for the sink, maximizing the view of the surrounding landscape and letting in plenty of natural light. The delicate and elegant tones of the Champagne Aluminium finish chosen for the furniture allows it to blend discreetly into the large room. High ceilings are enhanced by full-height cabinets chosen to emphasize the verticality. Neolith’s Calacatta Luxe polished porcelain was chosen for the countertops because of its exceptional durability and resistance to heat, scratches and stains, an important consideration given that the owners are avid cooks. One of the other cabinet fronts, in Champagne Aluminium and Sand Grey matte lacquer, has a discreet elegance that complements the rustic charm of the home, while also adding a contemporary touch.

The esthetic of the kitchen is refined and unified, an effect largely achieved through the careful selection of finishes and details. However, it was not just about looks, as functionality was literally incorporated into the design, for example by adding a pocket door breakfast cabinet that provides a space to easily store small appliances, making the kitchen look clutter-free and easier to clean. In pursuit of overarching unity of design, the same Calacatta Luxe polished porcelain was extended as flooring beneath the expansive central furniture island.

To meet the client’s exacting requirements, the kitchen is equipped with Gaggenau appliances, while the choice of the Bora induction cooktop with integrated ventilation system made it possible to dispense with ceiling-mounted extraction. Overall, the project is a testament to Poggenpohl’s attention to customer needs, demonstrating the ability of the company’s creative team to find the best solutions for each project.
