Comfort and Design in the Eternal City

Rome’s historic Hotel Capo d’Africa has reopened as Room Mate Collection Mia following a comprehensive interior fit-out and redevelopment. Designed by LGF Studio, the hotel – now part of the Room Mate Collection portfolio – introduces a contemporary identity defined by distinctive interiors and guestrooms with a strong sense of identity. In addition to the hotel’s 65 guestrooms, the ambitious project reshaped all key shared spaces, from the restaurant and bars to the meeting rooms, fitness area and the panoramic rooftop terrace. Spanning approximately 3,650 sq. m
across four above-ground floors and one underground level, the project was developed and coordinated by Korus Group, which also served as the general contractor, overseeing an integrated
design-to-construction process and ensuring full supervision of both technical decisions and their execution. Despite the complexity of working within a historic and operationally sensitive context, Korus Group completed the construction phase – the heart of the project – in only five months, on time and within budget.

The project involved a complete restyling of all interiors and FF&E, along with a substantial upgrade of the building’s technical systems – particularly electrical and special installations – overseen by Korus Group by closely coordinating design development and on-site construction.

To refine the guestroom concept, two prototype rooms were initially completed while the hotel was still in operation, giving guests a rare opportunity to experience the new interiors firsthand and directly shape the final design. Once these decisions were finalized, construction moved into full swing, requiring the temporary closure of the entire property. The hotel now stands as a beacon of contemporary design, where functionality and esthetics move seamlessly together. Guestrooms – ranging from 20 to 30 sq. m across Superior, Deluxe and Executive categories – and many of the common areas, especially the Centrum Bar, are now animated by crisp geometric lines, softened by a palette of light and earthy tones offset with greens and blues. Crowning the experience is the panoramic, romantic, relaxing rooftop terrace with enviable views across the Eternal City, including the Colosseum and the Basilica of Santi Quattro Coronati.
