The project is conceived as a strategic territorial regeneration intervention, aimed at reactivating the relationship with the fluvial landscape of the Molgora stream. The concept, developed by TECO+partners, integrates architecture, sustainability, and context, defining a clear functional layout articulated into three main volumes: the entrance atrium, the changing room block, and the pool hall, which serves as the compositional and distributive core of the entire complex. The design is characterized by openness, spatial permeability, and careful integration into the natural environment.

The building establishes a strong relationship with the fluvial landscape of the Molgora through reflective volumes that capture and amplify the colors, light, and reflections of the surrounding environment. A large north-facing glazed façade ensures visual continuity between the interior spaces and the green area with the outdoor pool, extending the perception of the built environment. A central courtyard, conceived as an internal garden, allows nature to enter both physically and visually into the architecture. Translucent materials, glossy claddings, and light effects contribute to the dematerialization of volumes, creating a visual and symbolic dialogue with the landscape context.
The environmental sustainability of the building was placed at the forefront of the design process by choosing strategies to reduce both embodied and operational carbon. For the embodied phase, low-impact materials with a high recycled content were selected. For the operational phase, in accordance with current national and regional regulations, most of the building’s electricity consumption is covered by on-site renewable energy production. The building achieves the nZEB level through reduced energy requirements, mostly met by energy generated from renewable sources.
The design of the new Vimercate swimming facility is conceived as an architectural and landscape device that integrates sports functionality, environmental quality, and accessibility. The complex is organized around the indoor pool hall, which serves as the central core from which the other functional areas are distributed. The three pools—a competition pool, a multifunctional pool, and a leisure pool—address a variety of user needs, ensuring flexibility and inclusiveness. The spatial layout enhances the connection between interior and exterior, supported by large glazed surfaces and skylights that provide natural light and a strong visual link with the landscape. Material treatment plays a key role: reflective claddings and backlit U-shaped glass louvers at the top of the building generate a sense of visual lightness and architectural dematerialization, in symbolic dialogue with the nearby Molgora stream. The irregular pattern of the façade evokes the flow of water and visually anchors the building in its riverine context. A dark-toned plastered base provides a stable grounding element, enhancing the suspended appearance of the upper volume through material contrast. Outside, relaxation areas and a summer pool extend the range of uses, integrating with the existing green framework and the diverse functions envisioned for the surrounding park.
The project includes a comprehensive redevelopment plan featuring additional areas dedicated to sports and leisure. The goal is to create an attractive sports hub for Vimercate and the surrounding area.
