The design idea stems from the desire to regenerate a marginal urban system marked by decay and incoherent infrastructure, through an integrated process of spatial and social enhancement. The concept takes shape as a strategy of reconnection: stitching together fragmented urban fabrics, recovering unused surfaces, and redefining the relationship between public space and collective functions. The architectural language is contemporary and measured, defined by fluid, organic lines that echo the surrounding mountain landscape. The goal is to promote a renewed urban identity, enhance livability, and foster social cohesion through spaces that encourage gathering, activity, and belonging.

The intervention is rooted in the existing urban landscape through careful morphological analysis and a conscious use of topography. The division into separate lots allows for a phased and context-sensitive transformation. New built volumes are inserted respectfully into urban voids, following natural slopes and restoring continuity with the built environment. The design of open spaces prioritizes permeability, visual and functional connectivity with the surroundings, and supports fluid circulation, universal accessibility, and clear urban legibility.
Sustainability is addressed as a structural component of the project. Permeable surfaces, extensive green roofs, photovoltaic systems, and native vegetation respond to water efficiency, climate mitigation, and energy generation goals. The architectural approach is guided by a principle of morphological respect: the layout of volumes and paths minimizes land consumption, excavation, and backfill, significantly reducing soil transport to landfill. Materials—such as pervious concrete, galvanized steel, and porcelain stoneware —combine durability with environmental performance in a low-maintenance, integrated design.
The project is conceived as an integrated system of public spaces and civic architecture, organized into three functionally autonomous yet interconnected lots. Lot A reshapes Via Loreto with a permeable parking area, lowered in elevation to reduce its visual impact, shaded by vegetation and a photovoltaic canopy. The system includes monolithic seating, pedestrian pathways, and the enhancement of local identity features such as a votive shrine. Lot B returns a neglected sports area to the community, transforming it into a multipurpose field with bleachers and a semi-underground service building housing changing rooms and facilities, embedded into the terrain. Lot C acts as a civic and cultural node: a landscape-building, partially underground and topped with a continuous green roof, houses an atrium with stepped seating, two rooms for collective use, and large glazed façades shaded by metal fins. Facing a new belvedere square, the space becomes an urban device for gathering and interaction. The project combines architectural language, durable materials, and universal accessibility, shaping a sustainable regeneration that is context-aware and community-driven.
The intervention transforms residual spaces into active urban devices, restoring continuity, function and identity to a fragmented context. A civic architecture rooted in sustainability and inclusion, reinterpreting the act of building as a tool for both physical and social regeneration of the territory.
