The concept of the EOT (Eyes of Tirana) Tower originated as a sculptural and architectural response to the city’s evolving identity. It was conceived not just as a building but as a dynamic expression of Tirana’s historical, cultural, and urban layers. The project was developed to fill a symbolic and physical void in the city, creating a new, meaningful urban space while connecting two major arteries. The design process focused on integrating heritage with innovation, engaging the site’s complexity, and contributing to the cultural dialogue of the Albanian capital.
EOT engages actively with its urban context by transforming an underutilized area into vibrant, multifunctional “open rooms” for public use. It introduces pathways, visual connections, and human-scale interventions that enhance accessibility and coherence. Instead of a monolithic block, the structure breaks into distinct, dancing volumes, creating permeability and a dialogue with its surroundings, softening the area’s chaotic, noisy character. It integrates rather than isolates, enhancing the neighborhood’s rhythm.
The choice of coated metal, specifically ACP composite panels, was driven by both aesthetic and functional considerations. These panels offer high flexural rigidity, reducing vibrations and structural stress, while their sleek, iridescent finish brings a unique visual character to the façade. The custom-developed color; dark purple with subtle yellow nuances, was designed in collaboration with the supplier’s Color Lab to reflect Tirana’s vibrant identity. The panels also offer easy maintenance, color customization, and superior durability, making them ideal for a bold, high-performance façade.
Sustainability was a core consideration in the Eye of Tirana. The use of ACP panels, featuring FEVE resins, ensures a long lifespan, reduced material usage, and ease of installation, contributing to lower environmental impact. The panels’ durability and minimal maintenance requirements further support eco-compatibility. This efficiency ensures sustainable performance for the façade. Not only does this make the building visually appealing, but it also contributes to its environmental friendliness.
“Eyes of Tirana” rises not just as a building, but as a sculptural landmark embodying the fusion of heritage and innovation at the heart of Albania’s capital. This bold intervention brings new energy to the city, weaving contemporary expression with layers of cultural memory. Its design opens toward the urban fabric, introducing multifunctional fluid public spaces that invite exhibitions, events, and community interaction, enriching everyday life through architecture. What sets the structure apart is its dynamic silhouette: a composition of fragmented volumes that shift and engage with their surroundings. These sculptural forms avoid rigidity, offering human-scale connections and visual transparency that foster both movement and meaning. As the building unfolds across the site, it transforms urban fragmentation into coherence and identity, creating a place that feels both seen and understood. At the core of its expression is a bespoke iridescent façade, crafted from ACP composite panels in a deep, shimmering purple with yellow undertones. Responding to shifting light and atmosphere, the façade animates the building, its surface changing throughout the day. With a lifespan over 50 years, it combines visual vibrancy with environmental resilience. More than architecture, “Eyes of Tirana” is a beacon, an ever-changing urban eye reflecting the city’s rhythm, engaging its people, and embodying the evolving spirit of Tirana.
