Balilla Park Living regenerates a former university site into a contemporary residential complex immersed in greenery. The design enhances the original footprint with new terraces, façades, and volumes that engage both the adjacent public park and internal gardens. Large openings create visual continuity with nature, while sustainability drives envelope and systems through high-performance energy solutions and efficient consumption management. The result is a coherent project that unites comfort, environmental quality, and a renewed dialogue between architecture and landscape.

Internal Court

The project strengthens its relationship with the city by opening the building to nature. The façade overlooking the park is animated by alternating terraces and bow windows, creating depth and visual dynamism. Large openings and generous terraces establish continuity with the public park and the inner gardens, while common areas act as domestic extensions fostering social interaction and well‑being. In this way, Balilla Park Living renews the identity of the Naviglio–Bocconi district.

Sustainability guided every design choice. Before construction, remediation works improved soil conditions and ensured environmental safety. Great attention was devoted to the recovery and reuse of materials, minimizing waste and reducing the ecological footprint. The building is connected to a neighborhood energy micro‑grid powered by renewable sources, while a high‑performance envelope guarantees thermal insulation and acoustic comfort. These strategies ensure reduced consumption, environmental responsibility, and long‑term well‑being for residents.

The project stands out for its ability to transform a former educational site into a new residential landscape, defined by its privileged relationship with greenery. The 73 apartments are designed with deep, open views and generous terraces that expand spatial perception, bringing nature and light into everyday living. The intervention enhances the original structure, introducing a lighter, contemporary architectural language of transparency, screening, and durable materials. Technological solutions—from a high-performance envelope to advanced systems—ensure energy efficiency, acoustic comfort, and reduced consumption. Common areas and internal gardens are conceived as domestic extensions, fostering social interaction and well-being, while the direct connection with the public park amplifies the project’s landscape quality. The residential offer is articulated into three distinct typologies: apartments with dual exposure to both the external park and the inner garden, lofts with double heights and distinctive volumes, and one internal villa overlooking the central green space. This diversity enriches the living experience, combining intimacy, openness, and architectural character. Balilla Park Living thus becomes a model of regeneration, able to merge sustainability, quality of living, and strong urban identity.
