Diapason Lighting, illuminating public spaces through the rhythm of light and sound

Starting from the very definition of light—as a wave propagating through the oscillation of magnetic and electric fields—we developed a form inspired by the elegant and harmonious shape of a tuning fork: a metal instrument that, when struck, produces sound vibrations in space. Just as the tuning fork vibrates and emits a unique, recognizable frequency, this lighting fixture is designed not only to provide targeted street illumination but also to serve as a distinctive element within the urban landscape. The Diapason series was used for the redevelopment of the lakeside promenade in Breil-sur-Roya.

The Diapason series by Dedalo © and GLIP © is designed to seamlessly integrate into its surroundings. Its clean, essential lines define the visual identity of the light—both in the street/pedestrian pole version and in the bollard—without disrupting public spaces or circulation routes. Color variations, versatile components, and the structural design of the fixture allow Diapason to adapt to a wide range of urban contexts, from city streets to parks and public gardens.

Palo Diapason

The Diapason series products place strong emphasis on sustainability and eco-compatibility, both in their manufacturing and in their usage. High-resistance metal profiles with weather-resistant coatings, the use of high-efficiency LED technology, and carefully engineered mounting details make Diapason a clear example of how design can successfully merge artistic expression with technological and energy-conscious innovation. Diapason won the award for "Best Special Purpose Lamp" at the Venetian Smart Lighting Award 2023.

Particolare del palo e del corpo illuminante

The Diapason series by Dedalo © and GLIP © is a lighting solution that blends elegance, versatility, and energy efficiency. The product line includes two main types: a lighting pole for pedestrian and vehicular pathways, and a bollard series designed for walkways. At the heart of the project is a minimalist design concept, defined by a solid lower section and a lighter, open upper portion composed of slender profiles. The pole features a pair of rectangular-section metal profiles, set apart to form a distinctive "tuning fork" shape. Between these, one or two light sources can be mounted at different heights depending on the intended use—pedestrian or vehicular lighting—as well as an optional spotlight. The base houses the technical components of the lighting system and can also integrate a small surveillance camera or a speaker for background audio diffusion. The bollard shares the same solid base, extending upward into a single profile that creates an open frame. The light source is positioned at the top and directed downward, softly illuminating the ground below. This refined formal language allows Diapason to define space without overwhelming it—making it a discreet yet characterful element in both urban and landscaped environments. The Diapason series was used in the redevelopment of the lakeside promenade in Breil-sur-Roya, where wood, Luserna stone, and architectural concrete—set alongside the Diapason lights—blend harmoniously into the natural landscape.
