The design concept stems from the desire to insert a new architectural structure that blends seamlessly with the existing urban fabric, enhancing the corner location between Via Mosè Bianchi and Via Alberto Mario. The concept is based on a careful analysis of the context, which led to the decision to maintain the alignment of the building line. The design articulates the facades through a clear tripartition: a solid base made of gres for the first two levels, a central volume marked by loggias and regular windows, and a recessed crown. This structure not only respects the surrounding environment but also adds a contemporary layer that complements the existing urban scene.

The project engages with the surrounding urban context by maintaining the continuity of the existing building line and enhancing the corner element. The articulation of volumes, the regular rhythm of solid and void spaces, and the choice of materials reference and reinterpret the typical features of Milanese architecture. The tripartition of the facade interacts with the rhythm of neighboring buildings, while the presence of a communal garden fosters a new relationship between built space and greenery. This design approach not only integrates with the existing urban fabric but also introduces a contemporary and harmonious connection to the green elements of the area.
The project adopts solutions focused on environmental sustainability, with the building envelope designed to ensure high thermal performance and reduce energy consumption. The systems include high-efficiency technologies and renewable energy sources. Additionally, a rainwater harvesting system has been implemented to irrigate the communal garden. These sustainable measures not only contribute to energy savings but also promote responsible resource use, aligning the building with modern ecological standards while enhancing the quality of life for its residents.
The project is based on a balance between architectural quality, sustainability, and integration with the urban context. The building is composed of three distinct volumes: a double-height base, a central body, and a top crown. The base, clad in stone-effect gres, is solid and firmly anchored to the ground. Its double height makes it more prominent, emphasizing its significance. Above the base, the central volume slightly protrudes forward, creating a sense of depth on the facade. The central body features regular openings and materials that enhance the surface. The crown is defined by deep loggias that provide rhythm to the building and make it feel lighter, fostering a connection between interior and exterior spaces. The corner volume is the most distinctive element: it rises above the other volumes, playing an independent yet harmonious role within the overall composition. This element marks the intersection of two streets and becomes a landmark in the neighborhood. The building houses 41 apartments of varying sizes, 39 underground parking spaces, and common areas overlooking a communal garden. The garden is a permeable green space, where plant areas alternate with equipped spaces for various activities, creating a pleasant and functional environment. The systems are efficient, and the building envelope has been carefully designed to ensure energy savings and comfort. In this way, the project harmoniously integrates built structures and green spaces, offering a cohesive complex that meets the demands for quality and sustainability
This intervention represents a balance between reconnecting with the urban context and the design itself. The choice of materials and the definition of volumes create a coherent project, able to seamlessly integrate into the existing fabric while offering functional, high-quality living spaces where built elements and greenery are perfectly integrated.
Beretta Associati is an architectural firm with over sixty years of experience, founded in 1964 by Gianmaria Beretta and later joined by his brother Roberto. The firm works in various sectors: commercial, residential, restoration, retail, tourism, and interior design. The design approach is based on a thorough analysis of the client's needs and the context, with a focus on architectural detail. The studio employs around thirty professionals and collaborates with external consultants, including structural and systems engineers. Through partnerships with international promoters and funds, the firm has gained expertise on a global scale. In 2025, architect Federico Aldini took over as technical and managing director.
